Whilst digital video beats film in convenience, price, availability and many other aspects you can't substitude that vulnerable, but so strong and sensual medium. Yes, there might be no more manufacturers who make super 8 cameras, but the flickering, grainy 8 mil films are still being filled with images. Doesn't matter if they are silent non-narative like Helga Farndel's, more conventional, like some of Andrew Kotting's works, heck it, Brakhage proves that you don't even need a camera to make an edge cutting film.
